Dispatch Strategy customizations are available within Sera for you to customize how the scheduler will make technician assignments for appointments in the event that there are two or more technicians open for work.
Neighborhood - this will keep the technician closest to the address listed in their technician profile, if possible.
Most Frequent Tech - this will evaluate if any appointments have been attended by available techs before. If multiple available technicians have attended an appointment within the last year, it will be assigned to the technician with the most visits.
Naive - a random selection
Drive Time - this will consider the distance from a technician's last appointment, or from the address in their technician profile if this is their first appointment of the day
Assigning Dispatch Strategies
Dispatch Strategies can be changed at any time. You might find that you want to update the selection during the day as well, such as changing the strategy to be Neighborhood later in the afternoon in an attempt to route the technician as close to their home location as much as possible.
If you select more than one dispatch strategy, they will be evaluated in the order that you have set. However, there is a classification called Absolute, which once set, will become the final option considered. For example, if you set Drive Time as the first and Naive as the second, since both are absolute Drive Time will be the only selection considered.
Note: the two most common Dispatch Strategy setups are Drive Time as the only selection, or Most Frequent Tech as number one and Drive Time as number two.
Once you have the desired selections made, you can order them by clicking and dragging them to the desired placement by using the three lines icon on the far right.
If no strategy is selected, the scheduler will evaluate using Neighborhood.
Note: if your technicians return to your office location at the beginning and end of the day, you will want to make the address in their technician profile be your company address.
